LORD my God, I am your servant. Listen to my prayer, and grant the requests I make to you today. Watch over this Temple day and night, this place where you have chosen to be worshiped. Hear me when I face this Temple and pray. Hear my prayers and the prayers of your people when they face this place and pray. In your home in heaven hear us and forgive us.
-1 Kings 8:28-30
Greetings to you all in the name of our Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Solomon made the above prayer to God during the dedication of the Temple. The temple / church / congregation is a place which always reminds the creation of its Creator. In the Holy Trisagion, we pray Heaven and Earth are full of God’s Glory. It means the whole universe is under God’s glory and we need to worship and praise Him for His grace to us in our everyday life. Mosaic Law complements this truth through the fourth commandment.
The Malankara Orthodox Syrian church has the great heritage and tradition based on the Holy Bible and the Church Fathers. The Church was founded in India on 52 A.D, by St. Thomas. The Orthodox Church of India has its own hierarchical head. His Holiness Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II is the ruling head of the church. We seek to worship God in sacramental liturgy, Holy Qurbana, in prayer and in our lives surrendered to God’s will.
Our parish is instituted in the sacred name of Mar Gregorios of Parumala. May we seek the intercession of Thirumeni always in our lives. Let His prayer be a fortress for us.
Our parish was established through the prayers, initiative, commitment, hard work and sacrifice of a handful of people. The Lord has immensely blessed our congregation and offered us much more than what we asked for. On behalf of the entire parish, I thank the Heavenly father for the blessings in the form of a wonderful church, the ever cooperative members and everyone who have helped and continue to help us to work for the betterment of our church. We are thankful to the Heavenly father for the ways in which he is using us to shape the future of our next generations by imparting the traditions and values of the Indian Orthodox Church. We have submitted ourselves in the hands of God Almighty to use us as He wills for the glorification of His name. As we were used in the past, we are confident of being used in future in this new land.
On behalf of our parish, I welcome you to our church and I hope you will be able to join us for the Holy Qurbana every Sunday or whenever you visit Suwanee. Please remember this church and all its activities in your prayers.
Yours Prayerfully,
Vaidyan Achan
